Welcome
to Baker's Acres Greenhouse!
Here
at Baker's Acres we love people, we love plants and we love
to have fun. Hopefully, we have successfully combined
all three. Being unabashed plant nerds ourselves, we
realize what joy and delight a new plant brings...especially
if it lives. By searching the world over, by rummaging
through countless greenhouses and garden centers, and by swapping
with our many generous friends in the industry, we have amassed
a huge variety of plants that should satisfy most horticultural
fanatics as well as all of you 'normal' people. Producing
all these plants is very hard work, so we try to make it as
enjoyable as possible by having a good laugh whenever we can. Laughing
is supposed to be very good for you (unless you suffer from
a broken rib). To this end, we're including some of the
so-called funny stuff from our famous catalog as well as our
plant lists. We hope you will enjoy it all. |

OUR
FAMOUS CATALOG
WHAT
IS THIS?
What
is this thing you’re looking at? We’ve
struggled for years for the right term for our catalog. It’s
not actually a catalog, having no prices and no descriptions. It’s
too large for a pamphlet. Would that make it a pamph? Is
it a brochure...not sure. We could call it a roster
but that could foster a sports allusion. If we called
it a list we would miss the gist of what it’s all about. Printed
matter sounds strange and horticultural compendium is way
too stuffy. A booklet implies that it’s almost
a book which in turn implies literature, which this certainly
is not. I guess we’ll just have to call this ‘The
Papery Thing with the Words and Stuff’. That’s
got a nice ring to it.
Arrangement
and design by the lovely Sarah Baker
In
years past we have mailed copies of the catalog, but times
being what they are, we need to cut costs wherever we can
and we are forced to discontinue these mailings. Do
not fret, however. While we are out of hard copy catalogs,
you can browse this website to get most of the information
contained in the catalog or, for those who want their very
own e-copy, CLICK HERE or click on the flowers to the left. |
THE
DREADED DISCLAIMER
At the risk of causing a great and mournful outcry from
the masses, we must tell you that WE
DO NOT SHIP plants listed in our retail
catalog at this point in time (perhaps in the future). You
gotta come to the greenhouse to get 'em. We do not
take orders - it's first come first served. A word
of advice - call first to make sure the plants you
want are in stock. It is almost impossible to have
all the plants all the time. |
THE
NEW ROAD IS FINISHED!
We
don't need this orange barrel anymore! |
